In the expansive Canadian landscape, each province and territory carry its unique charm and opportunities. Thanks to Canada’s Constitutional framework, the nation’s immigration system is jointly managed by the federal government and individual provinces and territories. This shared responsibility has given birth to the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The PNP facilitates provinces and territories in nominating individuals who aspire to immigrate to Canada and have a keen interest in residing in a specific province. The only territories exempted from the PNP are Nunavut and the province of Quebec, which has its own set of criteria for economic immigration.
Established in 1998, the PNP has substantially diversified the geographical distribution of immigrants across Canada. Today, provinces beyond the major hubs of Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia have witnessed a surge in immigration, attributing much of their success to the PNP.
While each PNP is uniquely tailored to the province’s needs, they all offer pathways aligned with the federal Express Entry system. These ‘enhanced nominations’ have transformed the immigration process by significantly speeding it up and making it more efficient. Another avenue for permanent residence via the PNP is the ‘base’ stream.
Alberta’s reimagined immigration program, previously the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), offers eight streams split into two main sections: for workers and entrepreneurs.
From skilled workers to international graduates, BC PNP offers categories tailored to the province's needs through the Skills Immigration, Express Entry BC, and Entrepreneur Immigration Streams.
Manitoba’s program, currently undergoing renewal, seeks skilled workers and their families aspiring for permanent residency in the province.
With diverse streams, NBPNP invites entrepreneurs, international graduates, and skilled workers to the province.
NLPNP offers pathways for skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs who resonate with the province's requirements.
NSNP provides multiple economic immigration streams, with three of them directly aligned with the Express Entry system.
OINP welcomes foreign workers, students, and entrepreneurs who meet the provincial criteria.
PEI PNP is the island's gateway for skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs to build a life on the island.
SINP offers a plethora of pathways for foreign nationals, notably the International Skilled Worker categories.
NTNP extends its welcome to those aiming to settle in the enchanting Northern Canada, through its Employer Driven and Business streams.
YNP aids employers in the northern territory to bring in trained foreign workers and business professionals.
